Insecurity loves to make you feel alone and isolated, so it must be defeated. The first place to start is owning what is yours. The trouble is on that journey of self-discovery we can also dwell on how we came to be there, and that is where it is so easy to lose the battle in the blame game. This is not new.
In the garden of Eden in Gen 3v1 we see Adam and Eve doing a similar thing, each blaming someone or something else for the situation they were in. The truth is, they were both partly correct. They were in a mess because somebody else helped them get there. But that didn’t matter now that they were there. At that point the job was to confess their own sin and walk back to relationship with God (because of his grace).
We can spend so much of our lives angry at others. If only they hadn’t done this, if only they hadn’t said this. The first step is simply owning our own sin, confessing to God, changing our mind (Rom 12:2) and moving to his likeness. So, are you blaming others for the issues of your own life?
As you own up and move on, here are five powerful scriptures you can speak over yourself to ‘change your mind’:
Galatians 2:20 – I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
John 15:15 – No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.
John 1:12 – But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
Galatians 3:26 – For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith.
Romans 8:1 – There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
